Competitive powerlifter, 485-kg total. Eight years coaching, a background in rehab sciences. She'll programme around an injury instead of around it.
Lift heavy.Live loud.
A strength-and-conditioning club in Hackney, three railway-arch rooms, sixty-eight classes a week. No mirrors, no music we don't want to hear, no "transformation before-and-after".
This week.
All classes 55 minutes, capped at twelve. Book up to seven days ahead via the member app. Drop-in only if there's a seat; reserved spots always take priority.
Who's holding the clock.
Every session is coach-led. Our coaches are paid well, keep their own programming, and aren't interested in selling supplements. They'll remember your name by your second class.
Ex–pro rugby player, now coaching the classes no-one else wants to. Makes metcons that look short on paper and leave you on the floor.
Former Venezuelan junior-national coach. Teaches snatch and clean like a second language. Patience of, frankly, a saint.
House leaderboard.
Three benchmark workouts, each run every twelve weeks — re-tested with the same loads, the same coach, the same clock. All-time house records on the right.
The Ironworks benchmark cycle is three workouts, four re-tests, one year. Members log attempts in the app; the board resets each January.
The Bar — a back-squat, bench, deadlift 1RM total, tested in week 12 of every programme.
The Engine — 2 km row, 4 km assault bike, 2 km row, for time. Scored across twelve heats a year.
The Pull — one hundred pull-ups for time, broken however you like. Tested quarterly.
