What is counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy that provides a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It's a collaborative journey where I support you in gaining insight, processing emotions, and developing new ways of coping.
How do I know if I need counselling?
You might benefit from counselling if you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or low. Perhaps you're going through a difficult time, struggling with relationships, or simply want to understand yourself better. You don't need to be in crisis - counselling is for anyone who wants support.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is all about getting to know each other. We'll talk about what's brought you to counselling, what you hope to achieve, and how I work. It's also a chance for you to ask questions and see if you feel comfortable working with me.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies for everyone. Some people find a few sessions helpful, while others prefer longer-term support. We'll check in regularly about how things are going and what feels right for you - there's no pressure either way.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is fundamental to our work together. What you share stays between us, with very few exceptions relating to safety. I'll explain these clearly when we first meet so you know exactly where you stand.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes! I offer both online and in-person sessions. Online sessions take place via a secure video platform and work really well for many people - you can connect from anywhere you feel comfortable.
How much does counselling cost?
Sessions are competitively priced, and I offer a sliding scale for those on lower incomes or facing financial hardship. Please get in touch to discuss fees - I want to make counselling accessible.
What if I need to cancel a session?
Life happens, and I understand that. I ask for 24 hours' notice for cancellations where possible. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be charged, but we can always discuss individual circumstances.
