What is counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy that provides a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It's a collaborative process where I support you in gaining insight and developing coping strategies.
How do I know if I need counselling?
You might benefit from counselling if you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or depressed. Perhaps you're going through a difficult life change, struggling with relationships, or simply want to understand yourself better. You don't need to be in crisis to seek support.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is about getting to know each other. We'll discuss what's brought you to counselling, what you hope to achieve, and how I work. It's also an opportunity for you to ask questions and see if we're a good fit.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies for everyone. Some people find a few sessions helpful, while others benefit from longer-term work. We'll regularly review your progress and discuss what feels right for you.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is fundamental to our work together. What you share stays between us, with a few exceptions relating to safeguarding. I'll explain these clearly in our first session.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes, I offer both online and in-person sessions. Online sessions take place via a secure video platform and are just as effective as face-to-face work for many people.
How much does counselling cost?
Sessions are competitively priced, and I offer a sliding scale for those on lower incomes. Please contact me to discuss fees and what might work for your situation.
What if I need to cancel a session?
I understand that life happens. I ask for 24 hours' notice for cancellations where possible. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be charged at the full rate.
