Find answers to common questions about learning to drive with me
You must be at least 17 years old to drive a car on UK roads. You can apply for your provisional licence up to 3 months before your 17th birthday, so I recommend doing this early so you're ready to start learning as soon as you turn 17.
Yes, you must have a valid UK provisional driving licence before you can take driving lessons. You can apply for this online through the DVLA website. It typically arrives within a week if you apply online.
This varies significantly between learners. The DVSA suggests the average learner needs around 45 hours of professional tuition plus 22 hours of private practice. However, some learners are ready in 20-30 lessons, while others may need more. I'll give you an honest assessment of your progress.
Standard lessons are 1 or 2 hours. I recommend 2-hour lessons where possible as they allow for more productive learning time and better continuity. However, 1-hour lessons are available if that suits you better.

Yes! Booking a block of 10 lessons in advance offers significant savings. Please contact me for current pricing and block booking rates.
I'm happy to guide you through the booking process, but you'll need to book the tests yourself through the DVLA website. I can advise on when you're ready and help you choose suitable test dates.
Absolutely! Most of my students use my car for their test. It's the car you've learned in, so you'll feel comfortable and confident. I'll take you to the test centre and be there when you finish.
First, don't worry - it happens to many learners. We'll discuss what went wrong and work on those areas before your next attempt. I offer competitive rates for additional test preparation lessons.
I require at least 48 hours notice for cancellations. Cancellations with less notice may be charged at the full lesson rate, as I'm unable to fill the slot at short notice. Emergencies are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Lessons continue in most weather conditions as it's important to learn to drive safely in all conditions. However, in extreme weather (heavy snow, ice, flooding), I may reschedule for safety reasons at no charge.
