A small integrative practice — est. 2014

Considered, private therapy — with someone you'll see every week.

Rowan & Thyme is a small integrative practice offering weekly psychotherapy, EMDR and couples work from consulting rooms in Bristol. All four of our therapists are BACP-accredited (demo). First meetings are quiet, unhurried and unconditional.

— Approaches —

Four modalities, used in combination.

We're integrative, which means we work with what the conversation is asking for, not what a single school insists on.

i.

Psychodynamic

Longer-term relational work exploring patterns, early experiences and the shape of the present through the past.

ii.

Person-centred

Client-led, unconditional attention — often the right place to begin, and sometimes the whole of the work.

iii.

EMDR

Evidence-based trauma processing. Usually 8–16 sessions, run alongside weekly talking therapy.

iv.

Couples

Structured fortnightly work for couples at any stage — together or apart. Led by Rev & Imogen.

— Therapists —

Four therapists, each with their own practice.

— Questions —

Common first-visit questions.

What happens at the first meeting?

It's an open hour — not therapy yet. You'll meet a therapist, describe briefly what brings you, ask any questions, and decide together whether and how to continue. There's no pressure to book ongoing sessions from that meeting.

How long does therapy usually take?

It varies. Some clients come for six sessions with a focused issue; others stay for years on a weekly basis. We review the work every ten sessions or so and will always be honest if we think another therapist or another service would serve you better.

Do you see people online?

Yes. Three of our therapists offer online sessions across the UK. EMDR and couples work in person tends to work better, but we can discuss both formats at the initial consultation.

Are you regulated?

Our therapists would be individually accredited or registered with BACP or UKCP (this is a design demo — not a real practice). Regulation matters; always check a therapist's accreditation before beginning work with them.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes, with the narrow limits of UK law: safeguarding concerns around children or vulnerable adults, and serious risk to your life or another's. We'll talk this through clearly at the first meeting.

What if I can't afford the standard fee?

We hold six reduced-fee places across the practice. Ask when you enquire; we'll be honest about current availability.

The practice

Read by a therapist (not a reception team). Confidential. We aim to reply within two working days; first meetings are usually available within 2–3 weeks.
