An independent label for alternative & electronic music.
Broken Tide is a small Bristol-based label releasing alternative, ambient and electronic music. Six artists on the roster; eight to twelve releases a year; every record pressed on vinyl at least once.
Six artists.
Signed directly to the label, paid transparently, distributed worldwide through our partner network.
Nell Arden
Welsh songwriter working with analog synths and the Welsh folk songbook. Four LPs on Broken Tide.
Kieran Vale
Ambient/modular composer. Broken Tide's longest-serving artist and the first name on the roster.
Luxe Alterego
Bristol-born electronic duo making club music for rooms that don't exist yet.
Maeve Rosenhart
Poet-songwriter, two LPs and a book of lyrics. Spoken-word pieces between every track.
Okonkwo
Berlin via Lagos producer making long-form electronic music at home on both sides of a door.
Slowest Witness
Glasgow quartet. Our first guitar band in a decade. Debut LP out this September.
Small label. Patient work.
Broken Tide was founded in 2014 to put out a single Kieran Vale EP on vinyl because no-one else would. Twelve years on, the label runs from a small Bristol office above a vegetarian café, with three of us on staff and a rotating cast of freelancers — a master engineer, a sleeve designer, a PR lead and, occasionally, a solicitor.
We release only records we love enough to be embarrassed about loving. Every contract we offer is transparent: 50/50 splits after recoupable costs, no 360 clauses, no publishing hijacking, no tie-in with a major. We prefer slower release schedules and longer artist relationships; two of our artists have been with the label for most of its life.
Distribution is handled via the Secret Fortress network. Vinyl pressing is done at the same small plant in Prague we've used since 2016. Sleeves are printed in Leeds. Everything is UK or EU; we do not work with the large US distribution partners.
